Empowering the Next Generation of Hockey Heroes

The positive impact of sports is tremendous for girls as new friendships are created, confidence is discovered, and teamwork and leadership skills are improved with each day on the ice together.

Girls face unique challenges when it comes to hockey. There can be fewer funding opportunities, travelling for over an hour to play with all girls (or resorting to playing on all-boys teams), and many playing with hand me down equipment from older brothers.

We started this grant to let these players know we have your back

About the Grant

The Cammi Granato Girls Hockey Grant starts on October 3, 2021 and ends on November 6, 2021.

The grant is open to all US and Canadian girls, which includes female identifying and non-binary players, between the ages of 4 to 18 years old who are registered in a minor hockey league organization.

Players will be selected by a grant committee, including Cammi Granato. Multiple children from one family can enter, but an individual form will need to be completed for each child. There is no cost to apply.

Recipients of the Cammi Granato Girls Hockey Grant presented by FlipGive will receive:

1. A $500 Player Grant issued as a credit on FlipGive, which can be used at any time to help with the cost of hockey fees, such as registrations.

2. By submitting your application, you’ll enter your club or association for a chance to win one of 42 equipment sets, an approximate $300 value, generously provided by the NHL, NHLPA, Pure Hockey and Bauer, to help another player get geared up this season.

About Cammi

Cammi Granato, #21, has had a storied hockey career and wanted the opportunity to give back to the game. Cammi grew up in a very busy home in Downers Grove, Illinois with four brothers and one sister, and the cost of sport was always a challenge for her parents as they looked to keep their kids in the game they love. They played many games on their backyard rink, but when it came to playing organized hockey, there were no girls leagues around for Cammi to join.

She played with boys teams for years and went on to an incredible career, first becoming Providence College’s all-time leading goal scorer, then as Team Captain for the 1998 gold-medal winning US Women’s Olympic hockey team.

As the all-time leading scorer in the US women’s program with an incredible 343 points in 205 career games, Cammi was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2010, and currently was the first scout hired with the NHL’s Seattle Kraken, as well as running yearly hockey camps and a busy sports household with her kids.
